This guide to the best haunted experiences in Eureka Springs covers the ghost tours, haunted hotels, and paranormal investigations I think are genuinely worth your time, whether you’re visiting for spooky season or any time of year.
If you’re only going to visit one haunted destination in Arkansas, I’d make it Eureka Springs. Between the Crescent Hotel, downtown ghost tours, and paranormal investigations, it’s one of my favorite places for spooky travel.

👻 Take the Crescent Hotel Ghost Tour
If you only book one haunted experience in Eureka Springs, make it the Crescent Hotel Ghost Tour.
I’ve taken this tour more than once, and I still enjoy it. You’ll hear the strange history of the Crescent, including its years as Norman Baker’s hospital, while visiting some of the areas connected to the hotel’s best known ghost stories.
Even if you don’t believe in ghosts, I think the tour is worth doing for the history alone. It gives you a completely different perspective on the hotel and is one of the experiences I recommend most for a first trip to Eureka Springs.
➡️ Book the Crescent Hotel Ghost Tour
⭐ Worth the Plan Tip: Ghost tours regularly sell out during weekends and throughout October. If you’re traveling during peak season, I recommend reserving your spot before you arrive.
👻 Join a Paranormal Investigation at the Basin Park Hotel
If listening to ghost stories isn’t enough, the Basin Park Hotel offers guided paranormal investigations where you can actually participate in the experience.
Unlike a traditional ghost tour, you’ll use equipment like EMF meters and spirit boxes while exploring one of downtown Eureka Springs’ most historic buildings. It’s a fun way to try paranormal investigating without buying your own equipment first.
Whether you leave with unexplained experiences or simply a deeper appreciation for the history, it’s one of the most unique nighttime activities in town.

🚶 Explore Downtown on a Ghost Tour
Eureka Springs’ haunted history extends well beyond the Crescent Hotel. A downtown walking ghost tour takes you through the historic streets while sharing stories about the people, buildings, and legends connected to the town’s past.
This is a good choice if you enjoy history as much as the paranormal, and some tours also take you into Eureka Springs’ underground catacombs.

🌙 Investigate the Crescent Hotel on Your Own
One of my favorite haunted experiences in Eureka Springs doesn’t require another ticket.
If you’re staying at the Crescent Hotel, spend some time exploring the property after dark. Once the day visitors have gone home, the atmosphere changes completely. Wander the hallways, sit quietly on the back porch, or simply take in the hotel’s history and architecture at your own pace.
Whether you experience anything paranormal or not, being in the hotel late at night feels completely different once the day visitors are gone. If you want to do a little investigating yourself, a flashlight, EMF meter, or spirit box is plenty—you don’t need a suitcase full of equipment.

📅 What to Book in Advance
If your travel dates are fixed—especially during October or on weekends—I’d reserve these experiences before arriving in Eureka Springs:
- Crescent Hotel Ghost Tour
- Basin Park Paranormal Investigation
- Your Crescent Hotel stay (if you plan to spend the night)

❓Best Haunted Experiences in Eureka Springs FAQ
Is the Crescent Hotel Ghost Tour worth it?
Yes, especially if you’re interested in the history of the Crescent Hotel as much as its ghost stories. The tour takes you into parts of the hotel you might not otherwise see and gives you more context about the building’s unusual past.
Can you visit the Crescent Hotel without staying there?
Yes. You don’t have to be an overnight guest to visit the Crescent Hotel. You can explore some of the public areas, grab a drink or something to eat, or book a ghost tour without staying at the hotel.
Is the Basin Park Hotel really haunted?
The Basin Park Hotel has plenty of ghost stories and reports of paranormal activity, which is part of what makes its paranormal investigations so much fun. Whether you believe the stories or not, the hotel’s history and setting make for an interesting investigation.
Do I need ghost hunting equipment?
No. You don’t need any special equipment to enjoy a ghost tour or explore Eureka Springs’ haunted history. If you want to try investigating on your own, though, a few beginner-friendly tools can make it more fun.
Which haunted experience is best for first-time visitors?
If you’re only choosing one, I’d start with the Crescent Hotel Ghost Tour. It’s a great introduction to both the haunted stories and fascinating history that make Eureka Springs such an unusual destination.
💙 One Last Thought
You don’t have to believe in ghosts to enjoy Eureka Springs.
That’s part of what I love about it. The history is interesting enough on its own, but add in the Crescent Hotel, downtown ghost stories, and the chance to try a paranormal investigation, and you get an entirely different side of the town after dark.
